Well, I did it, I sent the Wii off to find a better place and hopefully someone will play with it. The novelty finally wore off and I want some games that are geared for a mature gamer. I got the X-Box 360 to replace it, so it's time for some HD gaming with some solid titles! I'm also looking forward to RB2 since it won't look like crap on my TV, unfortunately the Wii did

You getting rid of your Wii is the same reason I haven't bought a Wii yet. I was only tempted once, and that was for a MarioKart game that wasn't as good as the version released for the 64.

The 360 was an excellent purchase, and that's just playing Lego Indiana Jones and KungFu Panda which came with the system. Today I picked up Rock Band 2 and the new wireless guitar, so I'm sure that'll be a blast! Being able to play games in HD is awesome, the downloadable content is amazing, the arcade choices are amazing, and I love being able to stream music, pics, and videos from my PC directly to my TV thanks to the media extender. I feel like I've been living under a video game rock for the past 2 years and I've finally seen the light.  Better late than never I guess. |

Yeah, after reading your last post I was reminded to try the media extender. Man that is freaking cool. The only problem I'm having now is that my windows explorer crashes if I try to open thy my videos folder, good news is I can still watch all the movies that are in there.

It sounds like you have at least one corrupted video in that folder (that's why it is better to use subfolders of videos).
The issue occurs when Windows previews each of the files in the folder to see filesize, length, etc...

Yep, the media extender rocks, its the main reason I never built a media server. The 360 streams pretty much every video codec available, even if its in HD.

Are soft subs in some strange format? My xbox will play Mpg4 files no problem, (including all the pirated ones I have) if the fansub is in a normal format I don't see why it wouldn't work (there doesn't appear to be any anti piracy stuff going on, but I do have limited experience with the extender).

Soft sub means that the sub is in a separate file. Sometimes players will auto-detect them if they're in the same folder, but that doesn't mean it knows which one to display.

No idea if that would work or not, but my guess would be that if windows media player plays them correctly then it would play correctly on the Xbox.
