It sounds good in theory, but I have a bad feeling things could get out of hand if you are playing the weaker realm on the server.

FTA:As a defender of your home city, you will want to defend it at all costs. Let's say you are part of the Empire and collectively you and others have done city quests and PQs to raise the rating of the city. What this does is allow you to unlock specific city content, such as dungeons and IP characters that may have a quest or two for you to adventure on for a cool reward.

Another reason to defend your city is to keep all resources at cost. If a player fails to defend their city and that city has been taken over by the enemy, players will only be able to use auctioneers, bankers etc...at the black market, outside the city in a secure location. The black market will have higher costs.

The longer an invader holds their enemy's city captured, the further that enemy city will drop down in rating, thus having players have to work for their higher rating again, which contains all the extra city rewards, locations and bonuses. Also, invaders attacking an enemy city will gain city rating points for their home city. So in essence, players can achieve city rating points not only in their own home city, but their enemies', too!
I have a feeling this could get pretty annoying for the weaker realm...especially if your quest paths depend on a higher rating for your city. It would seem that the game is somehow lessened for players of the weaker realm on the server.

meh, I won't be doing pve stuff in the city anyway. It is supposed to take a few days to get back to normal after an attack, and it is supposed to take a long time to get to attacking someone. I don't think it will be too much of a problem. If your realm is losing so badly that your city is always taken, then you probably have more problems than that

I'm not sure how the game is set up, but I am concerned for quests in the city if it is taken by the enemy. I'll admit that I'm probably going to be a big pve guy, and if my city is constantly sieged and that interferes with questing, that could be a huge annoyance. It just sounded as if there could be a huge snowball effect of fighting to get your "resources" back if your city is sieged. It appears those "resources" are also quest givers. In that respect, rvr could put a serious hampering on pve if it is broken. Hopefully, it will be as you stated...taking a city will be an extremely difficult thing to do.

The thing is it is supposed to take several days or even a few weeks to even capture all the zones to get to an enemy city. And it is supposed to take a couple of days to replenish it if it gets owned. I imagine it won't be that big a deal. If someone is taking a city to the point that you can never do this stuff, then there is something broken in the system. Not to mention I think there are other places to quest.

And supposedly all the major cities have quite a bit of stuff to do, so if anything one of those might be good to go to.

More on it. idk, I kind of like this whole concept. The more a city gets badass, the more I will want to attack it.

Okay, this explanation seems a bit different...and better in my opinion. Instead of the quests and areas being locked off when your city is sieged, it is merely "opened up" for the opposing realm. And, from the sound of this interview, pve will also contribute to the leveling of the city. In fact, sieging an enemy city will open up more pve content for your realm. I would definitely not have problem with city sieging if this is the way it will work out.

It will certainly be cool to gain access to what people open up. Another thing I saw this past weekend was a forum post by the main dev, who regularly posts on warhammeralliance.com. I can't really post it here, as I can't get there, but he basically said the gap between when a city gets captured will be weeks at the least.
