After spending an eventful night trying and failing to get Quake 4 and RA3 up and running I woke up determined to get the problems fixed and finally get some games played.  I showered and started downloading the new patches needed for Quake to work.  When I realized this would take roughly three hours I started to lobby for food.  I was then informed that we had to wait for Ermac and Ceppy to return from the airport with Gellehsak from EG.  When they arrived it was food time.

We all piled into three cars (my Camery, Icelore’s Mustang GT, and Ceppy’s beautiful BMW) and proceeded to try and follow Icelore (Dave) to a local coffee shop/deli.  Following Dave proved difficult as he apparently has no idea how to accelerate at a normal speed.  Every stoplight is an invitation to race and Ceppy and I were repeatedly left behind at red lights.  When we finally got there we discovered that the shop closed in five minutes, but we were too hungry to care (sorry Albert’s staff).  After ingesting a pizza and an AMAZING piece of New York cheesecake I was ready to kick some ass.

However, being ready to kick some ass and actually doing it are two completely different things.  The games began in earnest around 6 pm EST (we had a break to go see Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer).  I had a LOT of trouble against DaHang and Ermac early on.  I was completely humiliated.  That is exactly what I deserved though, being that I have not been very diligent with my practice schedule at home (read this as I have not played more than 2 games a month for half a year).  As of writing this I have lost to DaHang by about 40, Ermac by about 35, Lost-Cauze by 50+ and Icelore by 5-10, it was REAL fun.  The rest of the crew is looking pretty strong.  I am especially impressed with Griffin.  He hasn’t been practicing as much as he should because his internet was cancelled so he has really been diligent in practicing here.  He is stealing games from everyone and is going to bruise some egos come WSVG.

Tomorrow we are going on a monitor finding expedition.  Lost-Cauze’s monitor decided to only show what looks like a zipper of light in the center of the screen.  Combine this with the fact that we were already down a monitor and we now have several unhappy (and unprepared) gamers.  On the bright side, I get to explore E-town, I just hope E-town is ready for me.
