Woke up at around 3pm (having played until around 4am the night before) and quickly showered and got ready for some games. I came downstairs to find it pretty quiet with only DaHang and Forever playing games. I checked my email and then walked over to watch some games. The really amazing thing about this bootcamp to me is how close all the top players are. This camp is really proving the “any given Sunday” rule. I have a reasonable idea of who I think the stronger players are, but with just a bit of spawn luck “lesser” players are beating the stronger ones. It really makes me excited for this tournament as I truly believe that some of the players here really have a chance to makes some noise.
After a few hours of playing we went to the grocery store and then came home and cooked up a big dinner. Icelore the chef made up some homemade alfredo sauce and chicken and I made a buffalo chicken dip. Everyone got together and had a big meal, it was a nice break from the stress of all the games and really helped improve morale. At this point Gellehsak got an impromptu Hold-em tourney together. It was a who’s who of North American quake players with Gellehsak, Griffin, Icelore, Ceppy and DaHang staring at each other over piles of chips with Forever the lone European representative. It took about two hours for the poker smoke to clear, but when it did Icelore reigned supreme and will start the WSVG with an extra fifty bucks in his pocket.
